The Park Service

The Park Service - Ryan Winfield It is really tough to write this review without giving too much away. It is safe to say that it is a terrific read with a YA male lead. Aubrey is resilient and charming. You just can not help routing for him and his friends.

I am going to say that it appears after 900 years of living you lose your dang mind!! Seriously!! You are gonna hate this bad guy and his twisted thinking!

There are many highs and lows in this story emotionally. Have tissues handy! Life in a dystopian world is ugly sometimes. It is something I have come to expect, but still breaks my heart.

The story flows nicely, although it is slow it doesn't feel heavy. I expected the story to drag because of the pace, happily it did not.

It is all from the lead character's POV, which does limit things. You do not know what others are thinking unless they say or do something. Have Jimmy or Hannah's perspective would add so much to the story. I can only hope that will occur in later books.

I wish we had a bit more of his life with his father. The home life and testing flew by, you hardly had a chance to see where he came from. It would have given later events even more impact.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Michael Braun, who delivers a wonderful read. He has consistent and distinct voices throughout the read. My only real complaint is that the pace is very slow, even when I sped it up in the app. Fortunately that did not effect the energy of the story throughout the read. I love his tone, especially wen he is reading for Jimmy.

Overall, I was thrilled with this book and am sure many young men will be thrilled to see it in the genre. Much of YA is female protagonist, which is great but I know young men who are looking for guy leads too. This is one of those books that will appeal to both male and female readers. It is an interesting twist on the genre and I am eager to see where things are headed!

Chasing Victory (The Winters Sisters, #1)

Chasing Victory (The Winters Sisters, #1) - Joanne Jaytanie I am not sure what I expected from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is an engaging story that is kind of light on the romance. Really terrific read!

Victory is a great character, she has sass and gumption. I love that she is smart enough to save herself most of the time. She has a terrific relationship with her sisters and I hope we see more of that over the series.

Tristan is yummy, I totally did a hero type. He is a perfect match for Victory. He is smart enough to let her have her independence but knows when to keep her safe. They have wonderful banter!

The romance takes a back seat to the genetics plot, but that didn't bother me because it was a great storyline. I would have liked a touch more of the history of both the girls and the Farraday twins. There are many holes in the story when it comes to their abilities. That may come to light over the course of the series.

Things do get steamy, open bedroom door but not full erotic detail. It is just yummy enough to make you fan your face a time of two. The love happens kinda fast, I believe liking but not full on love at this point.

This is a mixed narrative. my favorite! It is mostly the two leads POV, but there are many times when supporting cast chime in as well. Some of the transitions are a touch jumpy.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Robin Rowan, who is excellent! I loved her energy and the tone of her voice. She did a great job with both men and women. I was not thrilled with the sister's voice, hope that isn't how she does it in the next book. It would be tough to listen to a full 8 hours of that. She has a great pace that moves with the action of the story.

Overall, I am intrigued by this series and want to know more. I will definitely be jumping into the next book!

Perfect Summer

Perfect Summer - Katie Graykowski I am going to start this review by clarifying a point in the book blurb. The hero did not beat his ex-girlfriend. Yes he is at the school to clean up his image, but he is not a batterer. This is a key thing that should have been noted in the blurb. I almost did not read it because of the way it made him seem like a domestic abuser.

I love the book!! Summer is hysterical, I was laughing out loud all the time. You would not believe all the great lines I bookmarked!! She is spunky and self deprecating in all the best ways. The banter between her and Clint is awesome!! It was a delight watching them fall in love.

There is a bonus romance her too, I love that this author gives twofers!! The supporting romance has just as much growth and depth as the main romance. I loved seeing everything come together and relationships healed.

This is a mixed narrative, which means we get several POV throughout the read. Mostly it is Summer and Clint, but we get Lily and Davis as well. This helps give insight into the intricate dynamics at play. You were also able to see both sides of the relationship with mother and daughter. You might want to hate Lily at first, but it is difficult when you get to know her.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Pam Dougherty, who is delightful. Her Southern accent is spot on and a soothing melody throughout the read. I enjoyed the tone and texture of her voices, both male and female. She has a great pace in the read and delivers plenty of energy. She is definitely going on my list of narrators to watch for!! She was perfectly suited to this book and its sweet and sassy comedy.

While I was loving this book for the most part, I wasn't keen on how much Summer put herself down. She was mostly not caring about her wight, until it came to this guy. But that is the plight of curvy girls in comtempo romances.

One Night in the Outlaw's Bed (The Grizzly MC, #3)

One Night in the Outlaw's Bed (The Grizzly MC, #3) - Jenika Snow This book takes a really nice chunk of time establishing the characters and how they related to each other. There is plenty of build in the story leading up to that one-night stand. This is why you really believe the feelings in the end.

Maggie is awesome, not nearly as wounded as the other ladies in the series. She has things to overcome and you can see it all working out down the road. I loved her sassy attitude.

Diesel is really fighting his bear. There were times you could see him wanting his mate but wanting to stay free. To his credit he really does step up.The mixed narrative helps you understand where they are both coming from throughout the story.

The side story with the other bikers wasn't as active as the blurb would have you believe. I could have skipped that part altogether. Although, I hear they pop up later in the series.

Loads of yumminess in the steam!! Hello smexy. These biker really do know how to deliver in the bedroom when it comes to dirty talk. Good lord, I girl needs a few cold showers after reading those scenes!! Heck yes, I will take more!!

Sexy Witches: The Complete Series

Sexy Witches: The Complete Series - Charity Parkerson Book One: The Sexy & The Undead
This was a really interesting listen. I really like the characters but could have used more world building. There are many things that take a long time to be revealed. At first I was confused about what was happening.

Ella is rather sweet and haphazard. I would have loved more build and flirtation in her relationship with Sam. Perhaps show more of her trying to cure Freddie. I liked what I saw of her, just needed more.

I was a touch thrown by the Fates angle of the plot. It will be interesting to see how that develops through the series. Love the supporting cast, Freddie,Tam and Randall were great! I really hope we get to see their HEA.

There is plenty of sizzle but it is light on the smexy details. Still, quite nice for a short read.

I liked the mixed narrative, it helps you really understand both Ella and Sam. There is a bit of emotional drama, but that is par for the course with a good romance.

Book Two: Wanted: Hexed or Alive
This is an extremely short read. But I hope it is just a teaser for a story to come.

Set in the same world as the first book a little further down the time line. Looks like Randall might get a chance at love. I enjoyed finding out more about him and his magic tricks.

Book Three: The Pixie & The Prince
The great thing about this book is it is two romances for the price of one. The stories are interconnected and really kind of sweet. I was thrilled to get the HEA for Tam and Freddie!

The story has several POV, all the mixed narrative is key for understanding everything. The romances are mostly sweet, there is a bit of smexy detail.

There is a fair share of mythology mixed into this series. I really would like the books to be longer and the world to be a but more fleshed out. They are very intriguing and have huge potential.

Book Four:Tasting Temptation
Oh wow!! I loved this quick little read!!! The story built up from the world of the previous books in the series.

Skylar is a great sassy girl, with curves, and mostly confident. Gideon is deliciously Alpha and rather sweet. They are a great pair and it was great reading them getting together. I do wish it were longer, then we could really see those feelings develop.

The book has a mixed narrative, so you have both leads POV, which is important. It helps you see Gideon trying and understand his feelings for Skylar.

Hello, yummy smexy scenes!! Just enough detail to keep it hot and steamy!! Kicks things up a notch from previous books.

Book Five: The Wizard & The Wanton
It has been a delight seeing this series progress from book to book. We finally pick up in this book with Randall and Rowena, from the earlier short story. And we get a bonus romance of Harper and Death. I love the two for one deal.

This book has a great little story, wish it were longer. I loved the mixed narrative, fantastic knowing where everybody is coming from. All the transition are very smooth.

Hot, hot, hot!! Oh yeah, the smexy scenes have really kicked up! I am talking seriously steamy and plenty of detail. Look out cold shower!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Hollie Jackson, who has been great through the series. I love her accents and the delicate touch she has with them. She has a swift pace that really fits the smexy scenes and energy of the read. I really enjoyed her work and will have to look for other reads!

Overall, this book has been enjoyable and a great concept. I hope there is more to come, we still have a few supporting charterers that are single. I would just like to see the stories a bit longer, take more time building the world and relationships.

Blaze of Glory

Blaze of Glory - Mandy M. Roth, Rory Michaels This book is a tasty little bit of fun. Great snappy dialogue and many parts that will make you giggle.

Molly is a totally awesome chick who kicks serious butt. I loved her sass and all that attitude. She starts of strong but ends with a bit of a whimper. I am not saying she made the wrong decision, I am all about the HEA, but she lost some of that spunky sparkled I loved in the beginning. The banter with Jonathan and his brothers is great. He is super yummy, if a bit stuck on sex.

I would love to see this story expanded, more of her friends and the transformation. There was so much left unsaid about her job and the journey she underwent. I also really wanted the bad guy to get what was coming to him. I felt like Molly would have done something to him, it would have been justified. Her back story could have used more detail as well.

The story is a mixed narrative, you get both Molly and Jonathan in the POV. It really helps you understand them and the relationship.

There is of course yummy smexy scenes!! I could have used a bit more her too. Don't get me wrong, it is delicious, just wanted more.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Mason Lloyd, who is yummy. I really loved his tone and that he didn't try to get to high with the women's voices. He hits all the right notes. His energy is fantastic and really fits the action scenes. I will definitely be looking for more of his reads.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and hope to see more of the series. I need to know about Parker, Lynette, Eli and Cole. There are many delicious possibilities!

The Outlaw's Dirty Dancer

The Outlaw's Dirty Dancer - Jenika Snow Another yummy smexy read in the series. I do not generally like MC books, they tend to be too gritty. This book is still rough, but the characters are extremely likeable. This is not always the case in books with illegal activities. You just fall in love with these characters, faults and all.

Brick and Darra are a great couple, it is wonderful to read their relationship. They each have a past that has shaped them. Seeing them connect is a delight. The side story really worked as well. The mixed narrative adds to the story, getting both of their POV helps you understand them.

Oh so much yummy smexy steam!! I am talking down and dirty with plenty of naughty detail. Look forward to a heap of dirty talk!

The Wizard & The Wanton

Stolen Dreams

Stolen Dreams - Christine Amsden Finally the end of the series has arrived. I was really hoping all those pesky questions would get answered. Thankfully most are, some are kind of vague still.

A is typical with this series we jump into the middle of things. There are gaps in time between books that are told but not shown. Sometimes that makes you feel like you are playing catch-up with the story. Things are explained, it just takes a little time.

Everything is not happiness and light in this book. Things are coming to a head and there are casualties. A few really heartbreaking moments, have the tissues handy.

The romance is finally sorted out, I think you will like the end result. There also seems to be a hint of HEA for her friends Madison and Katelyn. It might be nice to have a follow-up novella to tie up those strings.

The story is mostly from Cassie's POV, but there are a few sections of Evan. It gives you a broader view of what is going on. I kind of wish we had more of Evan, it would have balanced things out a bit more.

There is a bit of cracked bedroom door. This means a few people get intimate, with a tiny bit of detail. It is barely worth noting, but I know some people do not like any mention of sex in a book. Up to this point there has been on smexy time in the series.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Melissa Reizian Frank, who has been wonderful throughout the series. She had great voices and characterization a that were easy to identify. She drew you more into the story and had you by the heart at emotional moments! Her pace was perfect for all the action and energy of the story.

I am sad that it is over, but thrilled to see how it turned out. Really entertaining series that kept you guessing!

Devil's Game

Devil's Game - Joanna Wylde Every biker series needs a Romeo and Juliet sort of love story. Em and Hunter are just such star crossed lovers. It is definitely still gritty and rough like any MC read. There is just something in this series that makes it likeable.

I love the way this book carries through the lives of these two characters. It is wonderful to see the differences in how they grew up and the way it shaped who they are. The other ting that is great about this is the recap of events in the first book and how things looks for these characters. It takes us from their first meeting and the way the relationship developed. You really get to know them and understand where they are coming from.

The mixed narrative is key to liking Hunter, he is kind of a jerk most of the time. You see how he really does care about Em, even though he doesn't show it all the time. The POV switches are smooth and helped along by the duel narrators.

Oh boy do things get steamy!!! There is a lot of smexy talk and loads of foreplay. I am talking some crazy variety when it comes to the creativity in the smexy stuff that is just short of sex. But when the sexing happens, look out!!! Good lord these two are hot together. I needed a cold shower more than once!

I listened to the audiobook that switched between two narrators Tatiana Sokolov and Todd Haberkorn. The two trade off when the POV switches between the leads. I really enjoyed Tatiana's pace and tone. Her voices were great and she had fantastic energy in the read. She has a perfect snark to her voice that fits Em. I adore her work and will be looking for many more of her reads! I generally liked Todd's read, but like many male narrators he tried to go too high with the ladies at times. They book delivered a great performance that sold the action and emotions of the story. I do like this style of using two narrators on a romance, it helps keep it distinct when the narrative switches.

I can not wait for the next book in this series! I am so ready for some more MC lovin. While I am still not a fan of the genre, I adore these books.

Place Your Betts

Place Your Betts - Katie Graykowski Oh boy, I seriously loved this book!!!! Such a fun and engaging story. The story has some seriously emotional moments, but most of the time it is laugh out loud funny!

The story is a typical chick-lit romance trope. Nothing wrong with that though, there is a reason those tropes stand the test of time. Reunited lovers, who had a baby as teens, yup that is a delightful classic!

I love Betts, she is fantastic! There is something more than a little likeable about her. She breaks your heart then makes you giggle the next moment. You really want to route for her.

Gabe is a yummy cowboy. I wanted to see the fences mended in the worst kind of way. He seriously grew up from his youthful stupidity.

The banter between Betts and Gabe is incredible. I loved them together, they were great even when they were still mad at each other. They are a perfect pair and you want to see them work it all out. Add to the top of that the quirky supporting cast. Love her Mama and best friends. Can not wait to see how this series plays out.

The narrative is mixed, you get both leads POV and the teen romance as well. It is great to see it all play out and a little bit of history repeating itself. It is a great story that I could read again.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Pam Dougherty, who is amazing!! The characters have southern accents, but they are doe with a light touch. Such a delight to listen to the smooth tones and swift pace. She really gets all the amusing moments and brings them to life in a brilliant manner. She has terrific energy that brings all the emotion to life. I am definitely looking for more of her reads!!

Overall this is a great book. Fun chick-lit with a touch of emotion. I can not wait to read HEA for Charlie and Lucky!!

Reaper's Legacy

Reaper's Legacy - Joanna Wylde This series is seriously making me re-think my stance on MC romances. It just takes a well written story to turn it all around. Sure, there are still gritty biker rules and lifestyle things to overlook. Sigh, these books always come with the loose definition of romance and monogamy.

Sophie is a great character, she has such strength. She starts out as a naive girl, but she grows up quickly through the book. I love the way she sasses Ruger. She fits in extremely well with the other ladies.

Ruger is a super Alpha type! He can be a real jerk most of the time, but it is kinda hot too. The mixed narrative helps make him likeable. You really need those times from his POV to keep him from being a total neanderthal with no feelings.

There is a lot going on with this story. Club business, relationships, Sophie's Ex, and getting ready for Horse and Marie's wedding. While there is all that going on we also get to met a few new characters, I freakin love her BFF Kimber. She is brilliant! Their dynamic reminds my of my friends and had me giggling!

The smexy scenes are smokin hot. They are plentiful and varied. Oh good lord is that man sexy!! Whoa mama, piercings and tattoos!!! He is also a bit of a dirty talker!! Makes you week in the knees! Hello cold shower.

I listened to the audiobook that switched between two narrators Tatiana Sokolov and Todd Haberkorn. The two trade off when the POV switches between the leads. I do like this style of using two narrators on a romance, it helps keep it distinct when the narrative switches.

I have never been a fan of the biker reads, but Ms Wylde is making me a fan, at least of hers. These are not sweet fluffy romances, they are dirty and raw and of so yummy. I adore the way she takes the time to really show who the club members are and why these women would love them. As bad as they maybe, they have a code and huge hearts.
