I really wanted to love this book because I dig the author, sadly it fell very short. I like a sweet sappy romance as much as the next gal, but this one just made me feel like she changed for all the wrong reasons. I might be a bigger girl but I am totally cool with it and very accepting.
While some might love this story I did not feel the uplifting self-esteem boost I was promised. I walked away feeling bad for Holly, she ended up with a guy who could never truly appreciate her because he is so hung up on appearances.
I am going to stick with the BBW romances that build a woman up rather than telling her she is wrong for having a little pouch or big thighs. I prefer to celebrate my shape and to Hell with any guy who can't accept my curves.
The story had a mixed narrative, generally a favorite of mine. It was a touch jumpy at times, I prefer large sections narrated my one character, then switch to another for the next long chunk. Things just feel smoother that way, far less schizophrenic.
I still adore Ms. Evanovich, I just wish she had taken a different route with this story. She has a lovely style of writing and usually the story flows. But, I usually read her mysteries/thrillers, perhaps her romances have a different feel.
